Following a successful project in Old Moat, we decided to develop a new Peer Support Network in the Chorlton/Chorlton Park area, to create a range of activities for older people in the area.

We want the Network to provide opportunities for older residents to have their say on matters that are important to them. The Network will be run both for and by older residents of the area, and volunteers will take part in a Community Organiser Training course this summer, to help develop their skills and confidence.

This week, we held our first information session at Chorlton Central Church, so that interested residents could find out more about our plans for the Network and share their ideas.

There was a fantastic turnout and it was wonderful to see so many people come together to express their thoughts on how the Network could benefit older residents. We’re very excited to see how future meetings will shape and develop the Network in the weeks and months ahead.

If you’d like to find out more about the Network, or future information meetings, please contact Jamie Dean or Cathy Ayrton at connect@southwayhousing.co.uk or by calling 0161 448 4200.
