What work will be carried out on Arrowfield?

All Southway’s properties on Arrowfield will be fitted with a new air source heat pump. It will take a few months to get round everyone, and will be carried out in phases.

  • Phase One: March 2021 to March 2023

Electricity North West Ltd will improve the power supply by upgrading the cabling across the estate – this will involve digging up some of the road. They will also update your consumer unit (also known as the fuse box). This is necessary to ensure it is up to date with new regulations, and there is enough electricity to run the heat pump. It will also make it easier for you to have an Electric Vehicle charging point in the future.

  • Phase Two: November 2022 to March 2023

Contractors Rothwell and Concept, will replace the cavity wall insulation and upgrade loft insulation to 300mm, where required. This means that homes will keep the heat in better.

  • Phase Three: November 2022 to April 2023

Rothwell and Concept will remove tenants’ old gas systems and replace it with a new air source heat pump system. It will take about four days for each property, but they will only need access to homes for two days. No-one will be left without heating or hot water overnight. Work is starting in the houses in November, and work will begin in flats later in 2022 or early in 2023.

  • Phase Four: November 2022 to April 2023

Once the pump has been installed in a property, Southway will make sure tenants’ understand how it works to ensure they get the most out of the system. That means a warm home, with hot water and lower bills!
