We are launching eight exciting new Kickstart paid work placements at an Interview Open Day on 3rd February.

As a community organisation, we place huge value in investing in people and enabling them to thrive. So we are pleased to be launching eight new roles for 16-24 year olds in receipt of Universal Credit, through the Government’s Kickstart Scheme.

Kickstart roles are six-month paid job placements for 25 hours per week. They are a fantastic opportunity for young people to gain skills and insight into working in housing, alongside our knowledgeable and friendly teams. 

Roles available

The eight new roles available are: 

  • Trainee Operational Assistant - Building Trades (x 2 vacancies)

    Are you interested in learning a variety of operational labouring duties, and have good communication and listening skills?

    We have two exciting vacancies within our Property Services team. You will carry out general labouring duties including house clearance and cleaning, assisting in distributing equipment and preparing and carrying out groundworks. While the role is physically demanding, it is extremely rewarding and there are a wide variety of skills to learn.

    You will be trained in the use of electric/hydraulic machine tools, and in how to assist in the loading and unloading of a variety of building materials. You will also assist in the preparation and mixing of building material and will be trained to help with planning and requesting parts and materials.

     

  • Trainee Benefits Advice Assistant

    Are you someone who has a real interest in providing excellent customer service and support?

    This Kickstart role sits within the wider Advice Team, who operate out of our offices in Didsbury. You would support the team in providing an excellent level of customer service to our tenants and leaseholders, developing knowledge on Welfare and Benefits, Debt and Financial Support.

    This is an ideal opportunity to gain an insight into the knowledge, skills and experience necessary for a successful career in the housing sector. You would work on a rotation basis across the wider team to develop benefits knowledge and good customer care skills, as well as an understanding of the issues our customers face and the skills to identify potential solutions.

  • Trainee Commercial and Leasehold Assistant

    Are you interested in administrative and organisational support and delivering seamless customer service? 

    This role provides administrative and organisational support to our leasehold and commercial customers, ensuring they are managed in accordance with the terms of their leases, legislation, regulation and best practice. This is a customer-focussed role, ensuring that residents receive a responsive and value for money service.

    You will deliver excellent, seamless customer service throughout our sales, lettings and management processes, as well as monitoring and responding to marketing, sales, letting and management queries. Working with our Asset and Repair Team colleagues and external contractors, you will ensure our repair and defect performance matches service standards and customer expectations. You will also help organise the viewing of void properties and send a variety of appointment letters for the Commercial and Leasehold Property Officers.

  • Trainee Employment Assistant

    Do you have a passion for supporting others and a real interest in providing excellent guidance?

    This role is part of the wider Advice Team, based in our offices in Didsbury. You will gain an insight into how employment and training services within Manchester can benefit our tenants, as well as helping to deliver and attending employment and network events.

    This is an ideal opportunity to gain an insight into the knowledge, skills and experience relevant to a career in the housing sector. You will develop good customer service skills and an understanding of the issues faced by tenants who face barriers to accessing the jobs market.

  • Trainee Neighbourhoods Assistant

    Are you someone who has a real interest in providing excellent Customer Service and support to those tenants who need it?  

    This Kickstart role sits within our Neighbourhood Services Team. You will support the wider team to deliver a comprehensive tenancy management service, working in the community with our tenants, colleagues and other partner agencies, with the aim of ensuring tenancies are sustained and that our communities are safe.

  • Trainee Learning Hub Assistant

    This role will be within of our Adult Services Team and will be based at our partner organisation, Barlow Moor Community Centre in Merseybank Avenue, Chorlton. 

    As a Trainee Learning Hub Assistant, you will be supported by the Adult Services Lead to assist in providing learners with effective support towards their chosen qualification and help to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of adult education to all service users. You will provide training and employment advice and guidance for service users and volunteers and assist the Adult Services Lead in supporting staff development.

  • Trainee Volunteer Assistant

     This role will also be within the Adult Services Team and will be based at Barlow Moor Community Centre, Chorlton.

    As a Trainee Volunteer Assistant you will assist our volunteers and provide effective support, contributing to the planning and implementation of community activities and events. You will ensure the safe and efficient delivery of volunteering opportunities, activities and events and assist the Volunteer Co-ordinator to develop the knowledge and skills of volunteers.

Please be aware that the interviews for these roles are being booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Interviews will be in person unless a change in COVID restrictions results in a move to an online interview.
