We want to build more affordable homes and we're working on proposals with Casey Construction for 34
new apartments to replace the former St Bernadette's Church building in Didsbury.
The one and two-bedroom homes would be designed for people aged 55 and over to help them live independently for longer.
We want to hear the views of local people and have organised a consultation event at:
- Minehead Court, 1A Brian Harrison Close, Manchester, M20 1NE on Tuesday 27 October between 4pm and 7pm
If you can't come to the consultation event you can still share your views and ask questions by emailing consultation@njlconsulting.co.uk Please quote “St Bernadette’s” in the subject line.
You can help shape pur proposals by giving your views through an online form.
The deadline for feedback is Friday 30 October 2026. Your feedback will help shape the proposals before a planning application is submitted.
What are we proposing?
Our proposed design provides 34 high-quality one-and-two-bedroom apartments and helps to maximise natural light and ventilation for residents.
These affordable apartments would replace the existing disused church building with a contemporary development that responds positively to the character and appearance of the surrounding area.
The homes would be designed so they could be easily adapted to meet differing and changing needs. The development would also incorporate air source heat pumps and solar panels panels to reduce carbon emissions and make the homes more energy efficient.
As the site is close to ram and bus services, a lower level of car parking is proposed. The limited on-site parking would prioritise Blue Badge parking, and include electric vehicle charging provision.
Thanks in advance for your time and interest. Your feedback is important and will help inform the development of the proposals before a planning application is submitted.
