What are Quids In Food Clubs?
Welcome to 'Quids In'—a unique food club run with the support of dedicated volunteers, designed to support families in South Manchester who are feeling the pinch from the cost of living crisis.
Whether you're struggling to budget, or simply finding it hard to afford the essentials, we're here to help.
At 'Quids In,' our members can access a variety of fresh, chilled, and hard-to-find food items worth around £20 each week. Unlike a food bank, we're an ongoing membership club where you can get consistent support every week.
Where are the food clubs?
You can find Quids in Food Clubs in:
- Chorlton Park: Thursdays, 10.30am-1pm, Brookfield House (white building in Chorlton Park, Nell Lane entrance), Chorlton M21 7UD.
- Merseybank: Fridays, Midday-3pm, Pop Up Shop on Merseybank Shopping Parade, 42 Merseybank Avenue, Chorlton M21 7NN.
- Burnage East: Wednesdays, 11.15am–1.30pm, Burnage Sure Start Centre, Broadhill Road, Burnage M19 1AG.
- Burnage West: Wednesdays, 10am-1:30pm, Westcroft Community Centre, Westcroft Road, Burnage M20 6EF.
- Old Moat: Fridays, 12.30pm-2pm, Old Moat Children’s Centre, Old Moat Lane, Old Moat (Withington) M20 1DE.
We started a new evening food club in March 2024 and this now runs on Wednesday evenings, 5pm-6.30pm, at Westcroft Community Centre, Westcroft Road, Burnage M20 6EF.
This club is for people who can’t get to a club during the daytime due to work or college. Each week, you'll choose from a variety of items worth around £20, including chilled, frozen, and fresh foods.
Who can join and how much does it cost?
Club members have access to professional budgeting services, including tips on saving, accessing deals, benefits, or cheaper services that help their money go further.
Affordable Membership Costs:
Southway Tenants: Just £5 annually, plus £4 per week.
Non-Southway Tenants: £10 annually, plus £6 per week.
This contribution helps us cover costs, including payments to the food charity Fareshare, which provides us with the bulk of our supplies.
