Our plan to make your homes warmer, safer, and more comfortable is well underway as the first kitchens have been completed as part of our Kitchen and Bathroom Improvement Programme.

Our Asset Team has been hard at work delivering the initial installations to a high standard, working with residents in designing and choosing their new kitchens.

A key part of the programme was making sure residents had a genuine opportunity to influence the design of their new kitchens. Before the new range was introduced, we worked closely with them to gather feedback on layouts, storage solutions, finishes and practical features that matter most in everyday use. This helped us to provide a space that better reflects the needs and preferences of our communities.

We've been able to deliver kitchens that not only meet modern standards but also create spaces that residents can feel proud to call their own.

The enhanced kitchen range offers improved durability, increased storage options and contemporary design features, while maintaining value for money and compliance with the latest Decent Homes Standards. We are committed to listening to customers and using their feedback to continually improve the quality of our investment programmes and the homes we provide.

We have been working hard to support our residents, particularly those who are vulnerable, during these works as we are aware they can be disruptive. However, the finished kitchens will make a lasting difference by providing spaces that are practical, welcoming and built to serve our residents.

Andy Stafford, our Asset Management and Delivery Manager, said:

“This is a major milestone for our current Investment Programme, and I am looking forward to seeing many more completed kitchens and bathrooms that will continue to improve homes across our communities.”

The kitchens have been designed to meet the Decent Homes Standards, updated by the Government in January 2026. You can read the policy statement here.

These improvement works are part of a longer-term investment programme for homes. Involved tenants are helping to roll out the works in the best way and customers are being contacted ahead of time if their homes are due for improvements this year.

We also fund major and minor adaptations to help people to live independently in their homes in partnership with Manchester City Council.

We would like to thank our residents whose collaboration and patience has helped get the programme off to such a successful start.
