National Hate Crime Awareness Week: We're here to help

This Hate Crime Awareness Week, we're joining organisations across the country in standing up against hate and discrimination

HC Landscape Teams Background

From 12-19 October, we're proudly supporting National Hate Crime Awareness Week.

Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and welcome in their community. Hate crime and hate incidents can have a serious impact on people and their families, and they have no place in our neighbourhoods.

Southway is an approved third-party Hate Crime Reporting Centre. This means you can report hate-related behaviour to us instead of contacting the police directly. Our trained colleagues are here to listen, support you and help you report what has happened if you choose to.

We work closely with Manchester City Council, Greater Manchester Police, Stop Hate UK and other organisations to support victims and tackle hate crime in our communities.

Whether you've experienced hate behaviour yourself or witnessed it happening to someone else, support is available. You can:

Remember, if someone is in immediate danger or a crime is happening, always call 999.

Looking back at our chat with Stop Hate UK

As part of Hate Crime Awareness Week, we're resharing this conversation we had with Rose Simkins, Chief Executive of Stop Hate UK, earlier this year. Rose talks about what hate crime and hate incidents are, how to report them, and what support is available for victims and witnesses. It's an important conversation that helps explain what to do if you or someone you know is affected.
