After another incredible year at our Barlow Hall green space, we’re delighted to have received a tenth consecutive Green Flag award!
Receiving the award for the tenth time is a huge testament not only to the continued high-quality work and commitment of Southway’s Environment team but also to the vital efforts of our many community volunteers.
Reflecting on the achievement, our Environment Manager, Mike Moriarty said:

This achievement celebrates the hard work of our Urban Ranger Debbie Wallace and partners in creating a vibrant, sustainable and welcoming space that the whole community can be proud of. We are committed to protecting and enhancing biodiversity, supporting climate resilience and ensuring this green space continues to thrive for both people and wildlife”

The award caps another brilliant year for the Chorlton green space, hosting community events such as the annual Fungi Walk and our Summer Family Fun Day.
Over the past ten years one thing has become clear: this space wouldn’t exist without the fantastic work of our communities.
From the tireless work of volunteers to the excitement and positivity the visitors bring to Barlow Hall, you make it a special place for everyone to enjoy.
The importance of green spaces where nature and communities can help each other thrive cannot be understated. Barlow Hall not only helps to promote wildlife and biodiversity, but it also hosts community events, education and play in an area that meets the highest environmental standards.
