Southway Housing has joined JV North to build 1,000 energy efficient homes by 2030
The housing trust currently manages over 6,500 properties across Greater Manchester and becomes the consortium’s 14th member.
It joins Bury Council, Cobalt Housing, Johnnie Johnson Housing, One Manchester, Peaks & Plains Housing Trust, Muir Group, Plus Dane Housing, South Liverpool Homes, Stockport Homes, The Sovini Group, Torus, Weaver Vale Housing Trust and Wythenshawe Community Housing Group.
Central to Southway Housing Trust’s development programme is an ambition to build the new properties to Truly Affordable Net Zero (TANZ) standards as part of Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham’s pledge to achieve 30,000 net zero social rented homes by 2038.

The Trust’s 1,000 new homes will be offered at a range of tenures to help meet local demand as well as achieving Future Homes Standards.
Assistant Director of Development at Southway Housing, Jonathan Turner, said:

Not only does it make bidding for Homes England grant easier but the consortium’s framework means we can start really quickly calling off some of the best contractors and consultants available to help us build homes to TANZ standards. The JV North partnership means there is a wealth of experience and knowledge with other likeminded organisations collectively working together for the greater good, sharing information, data and intelligence so ultimately we can build more homes in the North West."

The consortium is a perfect fit for Southway Housing and so many other housing associations and local authorities who are developing a good number of homes in the North West.
