Southway has taken action to protect residents following a serious incident of violent and antisocial behaviour at its Grove Lane sheltered housing scheme.
We have obtained a court injunction against a Didsbury resident after it was reported to us that they physically assaulted a neighbour and threw furniture and filmed the victim without permission in the communal garden.
The victim is being supported by close family and Southway’s Age Friendly Team.
Manchester Civil Justice Centre granted an anti-social behaviour injunction on 4 August 2025 to help maintain a safe and peaceful living environment after agreeing that the attacker’s behaviour posed a serious risk. The injunction will remain in place until early August 2026 and prohibits the individual from:
- Using or threatening violence towards the victim or any other residents at Grove Lane/South Road
- Causing nuisance, distress, or use abusive language, and are banned from filming residents without their consent.
Claire Davies, Southway’s Head of Housing Management and Support, said: “Protecting the safety and wellbeing of our communities is one of our top priorities. This was a very serious incident, and we have worked with the courts to keep residents safe. We will continue to provide support to the victim and their family as long as they need it.”
