We know that many Southway tenants use the Manchester Move website to bid on homes, so we want to inform you that the Manchester Move website is currently offline following a cyber attack.

Some users have received an email from a donotreply email address asking them to click on a link asking you to ‘Activate your tenancy options’.  This email was not sent by the council or their partners and is an example of ‘phishing’, a malicious attempt to access your personal details or accounts.

Fortunately, limited personal data was breached and the scam website has now been taken down so the link no longer works. However, we’d like to remind our customers to delete any suspicious looking emails and not click on any links if you’re not sure they’re from someone you know and trust.

When will the website be back online?

The Manchester Move website will be offline and unavailable until Manchester City Council are sure your personal information is safe. This means that no homes are being advertised at the moment. This will resume once the website is secure and back online.

What to do if you think you've clicked on a malicious link

If you think you’ve received an email like the one above and you clicked on the link, MCC recommend that you follow the guidance in the link below – which is the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre - https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/collection/phishing-scams/what-to-do
