Southway Housing Trust

A not-for-profit landlord managing and improving over 5,900 homes in South Manchester
Meet the board
A board of 12 volunteers makes policies and plans for Southway. It sets wider aims and objectives and makes sure that our staff meet standards of service.
There are four tenant board members. They have equal decision-making power with the four board members nominated by Manchester City Council, and with the four independent board members who are people with specialist knowledge.

How are board directors chosen?
Tenant and independent board directors serve for up to three years. Tenant directors are chosen by tenants to ensure that tenants have a say in who is on the Board. Manchester City Council choose the council-nominated directors. The independent directors are selected for their professional skills and experience and are appointed on the recommendation of the remaining directors.
