One thousand up, and counting!

It was celebration time as we marked home improvement number 1,000 with tenants Mr and Mrs Birbeck of Burnage.

We started making improvements at the end of November 2007, and will kit out all 5,900 Southway homes to modern standards in the next four or five years. The 1,000 landmark shows we’re well on the way.

We were delighted to share the celebrations with the Birbecks who picked up a bunch of flowers and a bottle of whisky to mark the occasion. They’re now enjoying the warmth and security of their home’s brand new windows and doors.

Cosy and quiet

“We can’t believe how cosy and quiet the house is now,” said Mr Birbeck. “New windows have made a massive difference to our avenue; they’ve really brightened up the whole area”.

Mrs Birbeck added: “I couldn’t believe how quick the team were when they came to fit the windows. They were brilliant. I was expecting loads of mess but the lads cleared up as they went and left the place spotless”.

The work doesn’t stop here. We’re pressing on with our £107million programme that will mean great home improvements like this for everyone: gleaming kitchens, sparkling bathrooms, safe and secure new windows, and lots more. And we’re looking forward to making many more tenants as happy as the Birbecks.
