Burnage West
Burnage West is about four miles south of the city centre. It lies mostly to the west of Kingsway between Moseley Road, Fallowfield in the north and the Parrswood area of East Didsbury in the south. (There are some homes on the eastern side of Kingsway too).
It's within easy reach of other suburban centres like Withington and Stockport. Kingsway is a major route into the city from Cheshire and South Manchester. See the map to check out all local facilities.
Living in Burnage West
There are a few local shops around Mauldeth Road, most homes on the west side of Kingsway are within easy reach of nearby Withington village where there's a good range of shops, bars, restaurants and banks. There's a library there, a post office, citizens advice bureau and other amenities. For people living on the east side of Kingsway, Burnage Lane has small local shops, a health centre and a thriving community centre with group activities nearly every day. Didsbury village, the large Tesco supermarket at East Didsbury and the Tesco store on Burnage Lane are close by too.
There is excellent public transport to the city centre and other parts of south Manchester, with frequent buses along Kingsway. There are two train stations (Burnage and Mauldeth Road) with regular trains to the city centre and to Wilmslow and the airport.

Housing in Burnage West
The wider Burnage area has a mix of housing, with owner-occupied homes, public housing, and plenty of private renting in neighbouring Withington. There are about 1,200 Southway Housing Trust homes - mostly built in the 1930s. There are 650 two or three bedroom houses. Most of the other homes are flats in small blocks. There are about 50 bungalows too.
