Tenant involvement

Our commitment

We are committed to involving you, and all our tenants, in running the housing service, and in decisions that affect your home and estate.

Tenant involvement is a vital part of a high quality housing service. When we first took over from the City Council in November 2007 we adopted the Council's 'tenant compact' as our initial public commitment to involving tenants and residents. It says that . . .

  • you have the legal right to be consulted, and will be encouraged to get involved in the housing service
  • you have the right to start or join a local tenants' and residents' group
  • we will encourage, support and promote involvement by individuals and the community as a whole - at local and city-wide level
  • we will give you accurate, honest and timely information and use genuine and effective consultation methods
  • we will use consultation to find out what concerns tenants - not just to solve problems.

Resident involvement agreement

We are now reviewing and developing this policy in consultation with local tenants' groups to create our own tailor-made 'resident involvement agreement' that will set out our new arrangements for enabling local people to get involved in running your housing services and in plans for the future.
