Bid for funding

3 women in a street

Here are some top tips to help you make your bid . . .

Who can bid?

Any community group in Southway Housing area. Your group must be properly constituted with its own bank account and letter-headed paper; or have a sponsor partner who looks after the group's funds.

What sorts of things can we fund?

Almost anything that benefits the community. It could be a one-off event like a sports or fun day, or something permanent like refurbishing a community building. But we may not support political or religious events, or things that may exclude certain people.

What are we looking for?

As a guide:

  • your bid should benefit your local community
  • the people bidding should be based in the local community
  • the bid should show people are working together
  • local residents should be involved in the bid
  • you should agree to show us how the money was spent - including financial information and photographs
How much can you apply for?

You can bid for between £100 and £1,000.

Who decides?

Our regeneration team assesses your bid and may ask you for more information. If approved at this level it goes to our decision-making board for final go-ahead. It's about two months from bid to decision. You can contact us on 0161 448 4200; or email connect2southway@southwayhousing.co.uk.

Where does the money come from?

We have a special 'community fund' for projects like this. Southway money is topped up by contributions from other organisations we work with, including:

  • the building contractors we use to make home improvements; all part of a special partnership of companies regenerating ex-council homes - Impact Manchester
  • Barclays Bank
  • other suppliers and sub-contractors
