Our commitment
We are committed to involving you, and all our tenants, in running the housing service, and in decisions that affect your home and neighbourhood.
Customer involvement is a vital part of a high quality housing service and ever since the transfer of Manchester City Council homes to Southway Housing Trust in November 2007 we have been developing a range of ways in which customers can get involved and influence decisions.
Shortly after transfer we reviewed our structures and launched a three year Customer Involvement Strategy which we finished delivering in September 2011.
Although still delivering the Strategy we started to review it in April 2011 to look at what was working well and what the priorities should be for our 2011-14 Customer Involvement Strategy. Consultation was carried out with tenants and residents about our engagement structures and the feeling was that we had the right mechanisms in place but needed to try to get more people involved.
We held a joint workshop with our Board members and Residents' Consultative Group and came up with a number of new priorities which all feature in our new strategy. A Customer Involvement Strategy Review Working Group made up of tenants and officers was established and met regularly over four months to discuss the content of the strategy and ensure that the right objectives and priorities were included.
The strategy was agreed by our Board in November 2011 and work has commenced to deliver the objectives set out in it. The strategy will shortly be available on the website but if you wish to see a copy now please contact Maureen Ward on 0161 448 4229.
If you are interested in getting involved in any way at Southway please get in touch. We are waiting to hear from you.

- we will encourage, support and promote involvement by individuals and the community as a whole - at local and city-wide level
- we will give you accurate, honest and timely information and use genuine and effective consultation methods
- we will use consultation to find out what concerns tenants - not just to solve problems.
