Leaseholders
People who have bought their flat from the City Council or from Southway are called 'leaseholders'.
A lease is a private contract between the leaseholder and the owner of the building as a whole - Southway Housing Trust. It describes who is responsible for doing what.
Repairs and maintenance
We are responsible for:
- communal areas - staircases, corridors, lifts, gardens and pathways
- structural and exterior repairs - foundations, outside walls, the roof, window frames, external doors and frames, service pipes and ducts
You pay a regular service charge to cover the cost of this work, and you may also pay for other services such as caretaking. You will receive a regular statement explaining how much you have paid.
If your building needs a repair to a communal area, or has a structural problem report it online, or contact us.
